Know Your Options When It Comes to Storing Your RV

Here at Elite Self Storage, we make it our mission to accommodate you no matter what you’re trying to store. We can even help you when you need to store vehicles like boats, trucks, and even an RV. Driving your RV across the country or to nearby campsites can make for a great spring or summer vacation, but not too many drivers are keen to use them in the colder months. If you don’t have a large driveway or garage, why not store it at our storage facility? Even if you do have a place to store it at home, you might actually be better off storing it with us. Here’s a look at the common types of RV storage, and some of the pros and cons of each storage method.

Store at Your Home

Maybe you have the room to store your RV or camper at home. If you have the room in your driveway or backyard, you may think that this is the way to go. After all, it doesn’t cost you anything. Why not just store it at home? There are actually a few cons to storing your RV at home for the off seasons. First, your neighbors might see it as an eyesore. It could even be against your homeowner association’s rules to park a vehicle like an RV outside. You’ll also have to prepare for various weather conditions that could damage your RV. Leaving your RV outside could also present a tempting target for thieves. Taking the effort to beef up security and protect your RV from the elements could end up costing you extra money and time.

Outdoor RV Storage

Parking at a self storage center is another way to store your RV. The main benefit of a facility like ours is the security. We use the latest technology and do everything that we can to ensure that your belongings, and you, are safe while on our premises. RV parking is a relatively simple way to store your RV when you’re not using it. While this is more secure than storing at your home, you still have to deal with the elements just like you would if you were parked in the driveway. If you’re worried about extreme weather, you might want to opt for some extra protection, like a durable RV cover that will protect from extreme temperatures, wind, rain, and snow.

Covered RV Storage

Of course, you can also opt for covered RV storage if you’re worried about the elements. This is more expensive than RV parking, but less expensive than indoor storage. It could represent the perfect “Goldilocks” option depending on your budget and your concern about how the weather will affect your vehicle. And like any storage method at our facility, you can rest assured that your RV will be secure.

Indoor Storage

Depending on the size of your RV, you could also store it in a large storage unit that protects your RV from all of the elements. This method is more expensive, but it could save you on repair costs later on. Just be aware that not every RV can be stored this way.
